    Before you begin

    Learn how to get your sperm in tip-top condition for fathering a child, and get tips to help you conceive quickly.

    Conception

    Discover how your sperm reaches and fertilises your partner’s egg, and when you can find out whether you’ve conceived.

    • Dads’ guide to pregnancy: conception

    One month

    Get tips on how to help your partner cope with early pregnancy symptoms, and learn the amazing ways your baby is developing.

    • Dads’ guide to pregnancy: one month

    Fetal development this month:

    • Fetal development: 4 weeks pregnant
    • Fetal development: 5 weeks pregnant
    • Fetal development: 6 weeks pregnant
    • Fetal development: 7 weeks pregnant

    Two months

    Get ready to see your baby for the first time at your ultrasound scan, and start thinking about how to share the good news with friends and family.

    Fetal development this month:

    • 8 weeks pregnant
    • 9 weeks pregnant
    • 10 weeks pregnant
    • 11 weeks pregnant
    • 12 weeks pregnant

    Three months

    Welcome to the second trimester! This is the perfect time to focus on your relationship with your partner, and perhaps take a mini-break.

    Fetal development this month:

    • 13 weeks pregnant
    • 14 weeks pregnant
    • 15 weeks pregnant
    • 16 weeks pregnant

    Four months

    The second ultrasound scan is due this month. Not only is this another chance to see your baby, but you may even find out if you’re carrying a boy or a girl.

    Fetal development this month:

    • 17 weeks pregnant
    • 18 weeks pregnant
    • 19 weeks pregnant
    • 20 weeks pregnant

    Five months

    Your baby is now developed enough to hear your voice. Chatting to your partner’s bump may feel strange at first, but it’s a great way to start bonding with your baby.

    Fetal development this month:

    • 21 weeks pregnant
    • 22 weeks pregnant
    • 23 weeks pregnant
    • 24 weeks pregnant

    Six months

    The third and final trimester starts here. The side-effects of pregnancy can really ramp up now, so your partner will need plenty of sympathy from you.
